Standing Seam Metal Roof

Standing seam roofs get their name from the type of joint used between the panels.  An upturned edge  each section is used to connect  adjacent metal sections. This type of joint raises the seam above the surrounding drainage run and creates the distinctive seam lines for which the material is named.

Standing-seam joints are most often held together with a concealed clip at the seam. The clip involves a male and a female segment that “clicks” together at the edges of each panel. Another versions of standing seam incorporates a narrow nailing flange that is fastened to the roof.  This flange is in turn covered by the next panel as it is snapped into place.

Standing seam roofs are very prevalent in regions with heavy snows or anywhere that the owner needs a roof that will stand up to heavy snow loads and shed snow easily.  Standing seam metal roofing panels are cut from a roll of material. The roll-formed panels are custom cut to the specific lengths of the roof to be covered thus making each job a special ordered product.
